Oct. 30 marked the Lady Rams’ 3-0 fall to the Walkersville Lady Lions in their first round match. The Lady Rams ended their regular season with a record of 7-2-2 and were ranked as the number three seed in the 2A west region.
The girls came out and looked a little rusty considering the fact that they had not played for eight days. Junior midfielder Rachel Wagner said, “We would have played better if we did not have as long a time off between our last regular season game and our first playoff game.” The Lady Rams started off the game sloppy which allowed the Lady Lions to score two goals, making the halftime score 2-0.
The Lady Rams also were not able to establish an offensive presence due to the injury of junior midfielder Michelle Carter who was injured early on in the game. Carter said, “The other player attacked my weak foot with her strong foot.” Carter’s absence was largely felt due to the fact that she is one of the team’s leading scorers. The team also lost its footing on the wet field, courtesy of the downpour of rain late last week.
After the Lady Rams ended their regular season in an outstanding position and won the division for the first time in seven years, they surprisingly came up short in the playoffs. However, everybody within the RHS community will remember this Lady Rams 2007 season based on their immense success throughout the regular season.
