Kate Nash Review
By Lucie Blauvelt

UK sensation Kate Nash released her new CD “Foundations” in the United States on September 4. The CD includes Nash’s first single “Foundations,” which was debuting at number two on the U.K. singles chart.

With her light peppy voice and British accent, Nash brings a more upbeat version of Norah Jones to the United States. Jones’ lyrics are stories that have different expressive background music. Most of the CD was written by Nash herself while she was recuperating after breaking her foot.

Starting off the CD is the hit single and the best song on the CD, “Foundations.” It starts off with light bouncy piano that is bound to have you at least head bobbing. The funny part about this song is that it is about a bad relationship that she had with her boyfriend and how they stab at each other with mean comments. It is a happy beat but the story is a sore subject.

The next song on the CD is called “Navy Taxi” which is a slower song, with a nice continuous piano background. The title of this song fits well, in that the song is slow and has repetitive lyrics.

“Caroline’s a Victim” is a good sing-a-long song in that the title pretty much is the only words throughout the whole thing. Also, it is a lot different from the first two songs because is has a dark and cult-like tone to it. “Habanera” is the final song on the CD which ends the CD with a burst. It defiantly has a Latin flare and many babaduhbaba’s that make you want to dance.

Nash is to come out in early 2008 with her next CD labeled “Made of Bricks.” At such a young age of 20, Nash looks to have a bright future in music because of her big single and new CD coming out. So if you are in a bad mood, pop in Nash’s single “Foundations” and it is sure to make you happy.
