Everyone always says that 11th grade is the hardest year, this is true? The junior work load is intense, from preparing for college, looking at colleges, and maintaining their grades. On top of their workload they are pressured to take more AP classes than they sometimes could handle.
Students who are being forced to move up into difficult classes, sometimes are not willing to do the extra work load that is required. This creates a problem, because the class level expectation lowers to try and accommodate those specific students.
The problem also could be that it is very difficult to get out of an AP class. The administration makes it very difficult to go from AP to Honor classes. While administration is trying to prevent an outbreak of people switching out to just get an easy A, they have to understand that AP and Honors classes are not for everyone.
The administration will usually switch a student out when they fail the class. Who wants to start failing just to get out of a class? If you feel that you are not ready for this level of difficulty, than you should be able to switch to a class that you feel fits your level.
The problem for students, who are willing to work, is that they are not being challenged enough. Teachers are forced to lower the class expectation. If students were put in their right classes then this would not be a problem.
