Carefree, deep, and simplistic rock-R&B singer Dave Barnes from Koseiusko, Mississippi recently released his third album titled, “Me and You and the World”. Unlike most songs released onto popular radio stations, Dave Barnes is not of the cliché type, where artists chant vulgar and provocative verses.
Instead, his album is dedicated to his wife, Annie. Love songs fill up most of his new album, and his lyrics reflect Dave’s feelings for her. It is especially romantic how the last song of the album is named after her.
His playful acoustic music is created from Dave’s personality. Characterized as a person with a hilarious wit, Dave’s charisma shines along with his music. His merry lyrics are upbeat; perfect to listen to when taking a road trip down the countryside.
Simplicity describes this album in the way that it is easy to sing along with the tune. His lyrics can be classified as karaoke with no difficulty. They are short, sweet, and simple. Literally; the lyrics are easy to sing to and very carefree. A negative point does stand out though; none of the songs have a first-rate ending. Some fade out boringly and others end too abruptly.
Moreover, these tracks may be overly simplistic, resulting in the music being a bit monotone. However, this may be a personal feeling. If you happen to be a hip-hop lover or a hard-core rocker, you might want to stray away from Dave’s music; if you do happen to enjoy country-like music, check it out.
