Do you know what happens when cool new songs collide with hot, known signers? It means plenty of great music, including Metallica and Jessica Simpson, who are releasing their new hits, and are taking center stage this fall.
Metallica has been together for over 25 years, and has recently overcome hurdles in their music career. Despite a few minor squabbles, such as problems with illegal downloading of their songs and the firing of their bass player; Metallica released their much anticipated album, “Death Magnetic”, September 12.
Many songs in “Death Magnetic” feature difficult drum and guitar solos, even though some believe Metallica have developed a mellower tone since they first started. An example is the song “All Nightmare Long”. Guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett use all their skills to produce an intricate guitar piece. Keeping the crowd pleased, Metallica is beginning a 2008-2009 North America Tour, with the first concert beginning October 21 in Glendale, Arizona.
Like Metallica, Fall Out Boy is intense with unbridled enthusiasm, but that is where similarities end. Unlike Metallica, Fall Out Boy has a pop-punk, emo-drenched theme that’s all their own. This very popular boy-band began in the 2000, in Wilmette, just 14 miles north of Chicago.
Fall Out Boy’s new song, “I Don’t Care”, branches off of their older ones, with a slightly mellower feel and a slower rhythm. Fall Out Boy’s album will be arriving November 4, is still worthwhile to buy and listen to even though it has changed some.
Not to be forgotten, Jessica Simpson released her new country album “Do You Know”. Her voice suits the country genre well, but because she is considered pop her fans claim that her country album sounds un-genuine in the face of country stars like Carrie Underwood.
Hardcore heavy metal, pop-punk, or country not your music style? Young Jeezy, a rapper from Atlanta, released his new album, “The Recession”, September 2. His songs help people relate to hard times and find courage within each other to continue on. His songs are repetitive, often with the same beat, however.
From heavy metal to country, from rap to punk, the music in store this fall will hopefully jumpstart this school year and make it a little less painful for the student body. Take Jeezy’s advice to heart and “Go as hard as you gonna go,” he said in an interview with steamwaves.com.
