Yogiberry Offers a Healthy After-School Snack
By Mellie Levin

If you have poor eating habits like most high school students yet are looking for healthier after-school snacks, then mouth-watering Yogiberry is the perfect place for you!

Instead of grabbing that carton of ice cream inside the freezer at your home, frozen yogurt is a healthier option. On top of this, some would say it’s even more delicious. Located on Rockville Pike, Yogiberry offers many flavors including original, green tea, berry, chocolate and coffee.

In addition to these delectable flavors, plenty of toppings are available, too. For those seeking an extra healthy snack, fresh fruits such as blackberries, kiwis, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and bits of mango are available. Other less healthy options are also available, adding that extra touch to a yummy treat. Some of these include gummy bears, Oreo pieces, butterscotch, yogurt chips and granola.

Though Yogiberry is more known for its frozen yogurt, it also offers smoothies and shaved ice. To make a smoothie at Yogiberry, you must choose a yogurt of your choice and at least two toppings. Whipped cream can be added to the top of the edible delight.

Yogiberry offers a wide array of options that have much fewer calories than ice cream. A small original frozen yogurt has about 180 calories and 26 grams of sugar, while a “delicious” cup or Oreo vanilla ice cream has a whopping 320 calories and 30 grams of sugar. Yogiberry’s berry frozen yogurt only has 140 calories per serving and no calories from fat. Most ice creams have at least 50 calories from fat.

Next time you are on Rockville Pike, stop by Yogiberry for a delicious yogurt or a refreshing smoothie. Yogiberry is healthy, yummy and versatile in what it sells!
